MacArthur was born in Wisconsin in 1880. He graduated from West Point in 1903 and served in the Philippines, Japan, and the United States. He rose to the rank of brigadier general in 1918 and major general in 1925.

During World War II, MacArthur commanded the Southwest Pacific Area. He led the Allied forces to victory in the Battle of Guadalcanal and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He also accepted the surrender of Japan on the deck of the USS Missouri in 1945.

After the war, MacArthur served as the Supreme Allied Commander in the Far East. He was responsible for the occupation of Japan and the Korean War. He was relieved of his command by President Harry Truman in 1951.

MacArthur died in Washington, D.C., in 1964. He is buried in the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk, Virginia.

The People General is the astonishing true story of a man who dedicated his life to serving his country. He was a brilliant strategist, a courageous leader, and a true American hero.
